On Rocks & Hard Places

Do you get caught in the middle of something, leaving you utterly lost as to how to go?

Going one way will signify one thing, and choosing another direction means something else entirely.  Neither move is bad, well, they weren’t bad until they were perceived as such.  It’s not necessarily a life or death move, as the only thing that will die is your spirit.  Your ability to just be and act and live without fear of scrutiny and reprisal will die.  Nothing is face value anymore – it’s all calculated and false and pre-meditated.  It is true that our actions, and their impact on others, can wound more than the most powerful weapons.  But worse than this, is when our actions are not taken as pure and honest and true; when they are perceived to come with a hidden agenda, an ulterior motive, a master plan.  When there is no faith in you.  We are not spies or cold manipulators.  Not with the people we care about.  Who possesses such cruelty of thought to be so calculating, treating others like pawns, waiting for an anticipated result? Who wants to be thought of in this harsh soulless light?

And so we sit - foolish, silly monkies stuck in the cold hard middle - doing nothing, wondering, all the while, how this paralysing inaction will be interpreted.

Perception is a powerful thing, isn’t it?

Turn On

I like clever.

Not a pompous clever or a condescending clever but a clever turn of words and phrases.

Clever gets me everytime.

Harland Miller is my right kind of clever.
